NFL Betting Lines Affected - Saints Ink Kicker Carney

The New Orleans Saints have decided to re-sign placekicker John Carney on Wednesday. The Saints are hoping to lean on experience by signing Carney to a one-year-deal, as Garrett Hartley is still struggling with his kicking game.  This news is going to have a positive effect on the NFL betting lines.
The 46-year-old veteran kicker is going to play the 22nd season of his career, since he made his debut in NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1987.
Following the failure of Hartley in converting a potential game-clinching field goal on Sunday when the Saints faced a 27-24 overtime loss at the hands of Atlanta, the Saints asked Carney for a workout.
Hartley have missed three field goals (4-of-7) in just three games. This prompted New Orleans to replace him with Carney, a two-time Pro Bowler who has 473 career field goals on 82.4 career percent field goal percentage.
In fact, with 2,044 points Carney has the third highest scoring total, closely following Gary Anderson and football legend Morten Andersen.
This news has thrilled the NFL betting enthusiast, as they get to see their favorite veteran back in action.

Rice’s Absence Disappoints NFL Betting Fans

Pro Bowler Sidney Rice won’t be able to play for almost half the season, following his hip surgery on Monday. Rice had injured his hip in the NFC championship game against New Orleans Saints, the Super Bowl champions. The news of Rice’s absence from the team has left all the Minnesota Vikings supporters and NFL Betting fans disappointed.

The NFL betting fans were expecting excellent performance from the player this season. In the first two seasons, Rice had a combination of 46 receptions for 537 yards, along with eight touchdowns. In the last season, he caught 83 passes for 1312 yards along with eight touchdowns, and was successful in capturing a Pro Bowl bid.

Rice’s injury has added to the problems of the Vikes, as they are already dealing with Percy Harvin's migraine problem. Although there are reports about Javon Walker, former teammate of Favre, being chased by the Vikes to fill in for the injured player. But this news has failed to excite the NFL betting enthusiasts. Their NFL Odds to win the championship will be drastically affected if the injury riddled Vikes are not able to overcome the problem soon.

QB’s Injury Upsets Bucs, NFL Betting

Much to the disappointment of the NFL Betting enthusiasts who were counting on the Buccaneers, the impending drive of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might dampen due to the thumb injury sustained by starting quarterback Josh Freeman.

The tip of Freeman’s right thumb on his throwing hand was fractured after the first offensive series in Tampa Bay’s 20-15 win over the Chiefs in a NFL preseason game Saturday. The second-year pro completed 2-of-4 passes for 21 yards, before leaving the game.

Now that Freeman will be out in any case until the opening week of the regular season, his momentum along with the offense of Tampa Bay will be greatly affected.

Freeman was the third quarterback selected by the Bucs in the 2009 draft after Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez and he will enter the regular season after throwing merely eight preseason passes in three series. Also, this will leave the Bucs no choice but to rely on third-year pro Josh Johnson and second-year backup Rudy Carpenter, who haven’t played in any NFL regular-season games.

It is yet to be seen how this setback will affect their odds to win on the NFL Lines for Week 1, as the Bucs prepare to face the Browns on Sept. 12.

Indulging in NCAA Basketball Betting

Everyone associated with sports betting knows that football, basketball, baseball and hockey are the four major sports in America. However, what many don’t know is that basketball is one of the easiest games to bet on out of the four major sports. Therefore, trying your hands at NBA or NCAA Basketball Betting can be a lucrative option.

Point spread is the most common method of NBA or NCAA basketball betting. This is a wager that is imposed on one team to make both teams equal with regards to sports betting. In case of point spread, the team that is supposed to win is the favorite, while the team that is expected to lose is the underdog. The favorite give, or lays, points to the underdog for betting purposes. The second most popular method of betting on NBA or NCAA basketball betting is in betting totals, which is also known as over/under bets. Here the wager is placed on the total of the score of a team, and one can bet on either over or under the total.

Besides basketball betting, point spread and totals are equally prevalent in football betting. Therefore, whether you are betting on Super Bowl Line or College Bowl Line, it is important to understand the spread to succeed in your betting venture.
